To me, the ultimate margarita consists of good tequila, lime juice, salt and ice. Simple and satisfying. For my at-home recipe I add Cointreau, a sweet orange liquor, and a thin slice of jalapeño for a bit more flavor.

ReplyDeleteI love a simple margarita at home. The addition of jalapenos is definitely intriguing!
ReplyDeleteIf you really want to blow the doors off your margaritas, make some habanero ginger simple syrup and add just a splash, like you would agave. It adds a little sweetness and a lot of spice!
ReplyDelete1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
4 oz organic ginger, sliced, unpeeled
1 habanero, split, seeds removed
Add all ingredients to a saucepan and heat until just before a boil to ensure the sugar dissolved in the water. Remove from heat. Remove habanero after 5 minutes. Let cool, strain until a jar or bottle and store in the fridge. Add to your favorite simple cocktails for a great kick!
good advice- thanks!
