Moscow Mule

The Moscow Mule was invented in the 1950's when vodka was first becoming popular in the United States. Its name comes from the homeland of vodka, Russia. Moscow Mules are a favorite drink of mine because they combine three of my favorite things: vodka, ginger beer and lime. It's a refreshing drink that's not too sweet, and the ginger beer is much gentler on the stomach than other sodas.

Moscow Mule
serves 1

Ingredients
1 can ginger beer (I prefer Goslings)
2-3 ounces vodka
1 lime

Instructions
Cut lime in half, cutting one wheel from each lime half (for your garnish). Juice the limes, straining the pulp from the juice if necessary. Set aside. Fill a large glass (larger than 14 ounces) with ice. Add the lime juice, then vodka. Slowly pour in the ginger beer, stir with your straw to mix. Garnish with lime wheels.

Optional: for a sweeter drink, add a 1/2 ounce of simple syrup.

I paired my Moscow Mule with a grilled cheese made with chipotle cheddar.

And, my glass says "May the best days of your past be the worst day of your future".
