Blood Orange Martini

There's no shortage of great citrus this time of year, and the beautiful color of the blood orange makes a delicious and gorgeous cocktail.

Blood Orange Martini
serves 2

Ingredients
3 ounces citrus-flavored vodka*
2 ounces vodka
juice from 2-3 blood oranges (about 1/2 cup)

Instructions
Juice oranges, straining the pulp from the juice if necessary. Set aside. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the vodkas and juice. Shake vigorously and strain into chilled glasses. Garnish with an orange slice.

Optional: for a sweeter martini, add a 1/2 ounce of simple syrup.

*I used Absolut Citron, since that's what I had on hand.

  1. I've never had a blood orange before. This sounds like a good way to try it out.

  5. I love that and want to make it ASAP. I actually had some major blood orange cocktail fails this season, but finally came out on top with a champagne cocktail made with blood orange and cointreau.
