We started with brunch at Garden at the Cellar. I've been here a few times and I love it. It's not stuffy or pretentious and the food is fantastic. I started with a spicy Bloody Mary - made with home made mix. There is a huge difference. The bottled mixes are what turned me off from BMs ages ago. Maybe I am turning into a BM snob but I will only order one if it's made with home made mix.
This was my first experience with Brunch at Garden at the Cellar. At this point I think they've only offered if for a few weeks. We ordered hash with sourdough.
And the eggs Benedict - my favorite breakfast! This did not disappoint. I wanted to pick up my plate and lick it clean. The egg was cooked perfectly, and the hollandaise was the stuff that dreams are made of.
Of course we had to have some bacon.
All of this food was fantastic, as always. The portions were perfect, too. I had enough room left for a few Dogfish Head 60 min IPAs.
Not wanting to get off my bar stool but afraid of wasting the day, we headed to Harvard Square. I took a few pictures on the walk....I say thankfully since I did a bit of damage. I ended up with a new bag for my trip, a dress, and these pants from Lululemon, which I totally needed. I am going to be super fast for my half on Sunday!
After a few more stops (yeah so it was a mini bar crawl) we ended with dinner at Central Kitchen. I've been to CK a lot recently - and it ranks up there with Garden at the Cellar as one of the better - and more affordable - restaurants in Cambridge in my opinion. It was nice to have a day to myself to do what I wanted to do and spend some time in my neighborhood. I may be going on vacation thousands of miles away but this just goes to show you that good times can be had right around the corner! (end cheesy moment)
Honestly though, aren't Sunday Fundays the best?!?
