Sunday Funday - Brunch at Garden at the Cellar

Sunday was my first day off in months. First real (read: NO plans) day off in as long as I can remember. I work a lot - maybe too much? I don't know, but I'm ok with it as long as I get a day off once in a while to do what I want. And what I wanted to do was eat, drink, and shop.

We started with brunch at Garden at the Cellar. I've been here a few times and I love it. It's not stuffy or pretentious and the food is fantastic. I started with a spicy Bloody Mary - made with home made mix. There is a huge difference. The bottled mixes are what turned me off from BMs ages ago. Maybe I am turning into a BM snob but I will only order one if it's made with home made mix.

This was my first experience with Brunch at Garden at the Cellar. At this point I think they've only offered if for a few weeks. We ordered hash with sourdough.

And the eggs Benedict - my favorite breakfast! This did not disappoint. I wanted to pick up my plate and lick it clean. The egg was cooked perfectly, and the hollandaise was the stuff that dreams are made of.

Of course we had to have some bacon.

All of this food was fantastic, as always. The portions were perfect, too. I had enough room left for a few Dogfish Head 60 min IPAs.

Not wanting to get off my bar stool but afraid of wasting the day, we headed to Harvard Square. I took a few pictures on the walk....

This last one was taken from the rooftop of Daedalus, where we stopped for a few more drinks. Hey, I was on (a days) vacation! Not that I need to explain myself, right? Anyway, thankfully, we stopped here after we finished shopping.

I say thankfully since I did a bit of damage. I ended up with a new bag for my trip, a dress, and these pants from Lululemon, which I totally needed. I am going to be super fast for my half on Sunday!
After a few more stops (yeah so it was a mini bar crawl) we ended with dinner at Central Kitchen. I've been to CK a lot recently - and it ranks up there with Garden at the Cellar as one of the better - and more affordable - restaurants in Cambridge in my opinion.

It was nice to have a day to myself to do what I wanted to do and spend some time in my neighborhood. I may be going on vacation thousands of miles away but this just goes to show you that good times can be had right around the corner! (end cheesy moment)

Honestly though, aren't Sunday Fundays the best?!?

Brunch at East Coast Grill

On Sunday the girls and I had brunch at East Coast Grill in Inman Square.

We started with Bloody Marys. But these weren't just regular Bloodys, these were from their MAKE YOUR OWN BLOODY MARY BAR. Yes, that's right. Mine had spicy tomato sauce, hots, pickles, celery, green onions, lime, lemon juice and a hearts of palm salad. Jess is right when she says this is a meal in a glass.

We started with the guacamole and the dusted fries. Guacamole is a weakness of mine and I (sort of) behaved myself and shared with the group.

These fries were only OK.

The end of my BM, didn't take too long to finish it!

The girls ordered Amilcar's Omlette and they were happy with it.

I had the Smoked Pork Tostada and loved it! This was great and the portion size was perfect. Plus, anything with more guacamole is fine by me. And the plantains? Yeah they were pretty awesome.

A few more beverages were consumed and lots of laughs were had. I'm glad we got to spend time together because it had been way too long! I'm really happy with how these pictures came out, too. Some are a bit out of focus, but I can see improvement!!

Friday Night at Eastern Standard

Friday night I met my friend for appetizers and drinks at Eastern Standard. I started with "Aviation" which was lemony and refreshing. Can't go wrong with gin cocktails!

We started with some oysters from the Cape.

And I ordered a "Au Provence" which was a vodka martini and not my favorite. Just goes to show you that you should stick with what you love!

We had the Tuna Niçoise salad, one of the best I've ever had!

And a flatbread (camebert, olives and roasted tomatoes), which was delicious.

I love hanging out with my friend, we always have a great time! Eastern Standard was a great place for after work drinks, too! Hopefully we can find Sox tickets for Marathon Monday, since we made big plans for that day!!
