Summer Sundays

I've never loved Sundays as much as I do this year. Now that I am not working 6 or 12 hour shifts, I have so much time to explore my neighborhood, see a movie, spend time with family, and, of course, eat and drink.

A recent Sunday started with breakfast at the Friendly Toast.


Of course I started with a Bloody Mary.



And took in the sights at this quirky restaurant. The wait was ~35 minutes but we got seats at the bar instead, and were able to order right away!











The cayenne cheddar bread is out of this world! The rest of my breakfast was great, too, but this bread alone is worth the trip.





After breakfast we walked around Cambridge a bit, the headed over to Fenway. It was hot - around 90*- and being without a/c at home, we decided to spend the afternoon at the movies. Most of the time I am not an a/c fan, but this day was just too hot to be outside.

We stopped at a few stores - one of them being REI where I looked at a new water belt for running. Too bad it was $50!!!

At the movies we ended up seeing SALT, staring Angelina Jolie. I loved the movie, and thought it was great! It's an action movie similar to The Bourne Series so if you like that, then you'll love Salt. We have also see Inception recently, but I haven't seen a good (bad) Movie Club movie in a while, so I'm going to have to schedule one soon!

On the walk home from the movies it started to rain, so we waited it out in a bar. Audobon, that is.



I started with a Sierra Nevada, and it kept raining and raining.



We had plans to make dinner at home, but the fact that we hadn't gone to the grocery store and the fact that it was raining, was motivation enough for us to just eat where we were. Sometimes, I feel like we spend a lot of money going out to eat. Probably because we do. But, we're very good about seeking out deals and cheap eats. This was one of those nights.



I had another beer, this time opting for a can of the champagne.



For dinner we split an order of the dumpings - fantastic, and the kobe dog- a $4 daily special. Both were great and hit the spot! Dinner was around $35, with the drinks (2 beers each). Most of the time our alcohol is 80% of the bill, as it was this time around. But, since we split an appetizer and a special, our food bill was very cheap. And, we left feeling satisfied, instead of stuffed.









On the way home we stopped at Starbucks for a sweet treat. I ordered a carmel frappuccino light. Sometimes I get embarassed ordering things like this at Starbucks, I sound like a yuppie asshole. Seriously.



And, eventually the rain went away. Actually, the rain went west, as you can see in this photo that I snapped from the BU bridge. Great sunset, too!
