Lunch in the Cellar

There's no lack of great restaurants in Cambridge and I want to try them all!! This has been on my list for quite some time. My coworkers have been here before and they've said such great things that I told them they had to bring me the next time we had lunch together.

We started with the chickpea fries, which came with a side of aioli.

My coworker ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Delicious and comforting, especially given how cold it's been. She loved it!

I opted for a (locally raised grass fed) beef burger with cheddar, arugula and (more of that awesome) aioli.

The Rosemary truffle fries were amazing and this was probably the best burger I have ever had.

There was the perfect amount of cheddar in the burger, too. Not too much to overwhelm the burger but not too little that it's all melted away. I added caramelized onions to my burger. Yum.

Oh I'll be back to try more!!!

Lunch at Alba

My sister-in-law I have been eating at Alba for years. This was my first time visiting their new location (they moved across the street).

It was decorated for Christmas. Love it!!

We started with a bottle of Santa Margarita and the crab cakes. The cold and crispy apples was a nice garnish with warm crab cakes.

Antipasto was next of course. I can't remember going to Alba and not ordering this. We are very predictable!

Next up was gnocchi with eggplant carbornara. Gnocchi might be one of my favorite things ever. This dish was light and delicious.

We had a spinach, blue cheese, bacon, apple salad with our pasta dish. I didn't love the blue cheese in this salad but it was a delicious salad, anyway.

Towards the end of lunch I enjoyed a glass of garancha. I am loving this wine lately.

Lunches with my sister-in-law are always full of fun, gossip and good wine! I'm happy that Alba has such a fantastic menu that we make it a tradition to always go back for more.
